Over the past 6 months I have been looking for a more efficient and effective way of managing all the documents, receipts, business cards, invoices, and basically all the papers that go along with owning a business. Prior to me purchasing a document scanner I had been using my Canon MX880 which does have many of the features of the document scanner, but doesn't have the mobility and database and document search features this has. The Canon MX880 Superior 9600 x 2400 maximum color resolution4 and 5 Individual Ink Tanks means incredible business document printing and efficiency while built-in imaging technology ensures the integrity of originals are preserved with each copy and scan. Maintain security standards by utilizing features to prevent misdialed fax transmissions and keep scanned files password protected. The MX892 also allows you to turn your office into a photo lab and print beautiful, borderless5 photo lab quality photos up to 8.5" x 11" in size. Your photo printing options now also include Full HD video6 while you also enjoy computer-less printing through compatible direct print options. The MX892 delivers the tremendous business imaging quality and versatile solutions that will assist in bringing your business to the next level. So, you can print business documents when you need to and photos when you want to. This is also a wireless printer with optional Bluetooth technology. Basically, I was scanning all my business documents into files and saving them into folders which I would then backup multiple times on different portable and network drives. Neat NeatDesk vs Fujitsu ScanSnap IX500 I was looking for the device that had the greatest capabilities, ease of use and compatibility with both PC and MAC. I must have compared these two devices at least 20 times before I decided to buy one. The Fujitsu was a bit more expensive, but I felt it had a better name and company behind it. I bought it from Costco where it is well priced and is very good with returns if necessary. However, i will not need to return this device. THE SPECIFICATIONS The basic deciding factor were the features and software that came with the Scan Snap IX500 and the excellent reviews I have throughout the internet. Ease of Connecting The Scan Snap was easy to set up but it was important to know that you should take these steps. First install the software which comes on a CD and then connected the power cable and USB cable. It will take you through the installation first and then ask you to connect the device, installing all the necessary drivers. It will then ask if you would like to connect wirelessly through your home network as well as asking if you will be connecting a mobile devices such as an android based or iOS based device. It will then take you through the process for installing these software, provide you with a pin and allow you to connect and hit scan. You place a document in the scanner and select scan on your phone and its done. The ScanSnap iX500 provides PC and Mac users an effective way to greatly reduce paper clutter, storage space, and security risk associated with unmanaged paperwork at home or office. Even better, documents scanned by ScanSnap take on a higher level of accessibility and usefulness, users can scan wirelessly to a PC or Mac and now iOS or Android mobile devices.
